Facts That Will Change The Way You Think About Music

The chills you get when listening to music are caused by the release of dopamine in your body.
Scientists recruited people who reliably get shivers when listening to an affective score. The chills are a consistent, in the moment measure of pleasure than asking how test subjects felt. Scientists used brain-imaging techniques that revealed that the music caused dopamine peaks coupled with emotional arousal.

The release of dopamine during music explains why such a high value is put on it and why music can manipulate our emotions. The effect that music has on us is quite comparable to other pleasures. Some examples are the joy of eating food and other tangible rewards.

Music can quite literally move us or the chemicals in our brains. The fact that music can really give us a rush like sex does is incredible. Well, the sensation is released from the same part of the brain at least.

Your heartbeat changes with the music you listen to!

Music can be so powerful it can affect your mood, brainwaves, and even your heartbeat! It turns out that when we listen to music our body reacts to the sounds we hear.

If a person listens to rock or techno, their heartbeat will involuntarily speed up. The opposite is true if someone listens to more calming or instrumental music.

Music is so influential it can alter your heartbeat, pulse rate, blood pressure, decrease your muscle tension, and even affect your body movement and coordination!

People couldn't tell the difference between music played through $100 cables or hangers .

Overpriced cables are nothing new. However, a lot of people are misinformed about the actual benefits of paying $100 for a cable.

An experiment was setup with 5 people blindfoldedly listening to music that was either run through a Monster cable or a Belden cable. In the middle of the experiment, the people running the tests switched the belden cable for a coat hanger wire!

No one of the blindfolded people realized the switch was made. The one caveat that they had was that this was only over 2 meters. Anything longer might benefit from better insulation.

Doctors have prescribed music to treat Parkinson's disease and strokes.

It's actually helpful for patients with Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, stroke victims, and people with anxiety and depression. Music can help overcome bradykinesia (difficulty initiating movement, often linked to Parkinson's) by triggering neurons that translate the music into organized movement. Music therapy has also proven to be effective in restoring the loss of language in patients with aphasia (impaired speech) that results from brain injury after sustaining a stroke.

Playing music also has its own health benefits. Patients with Parkinson's disease report that spending time playing the drums helps them have more control over their bodily movements and reduces tremors. The one downside to music therapy is that the benefits wear off 2 months after the therapy is discontinued. This means it's only effective if it's used continuously.

Freedom or Exploitation ?

Before we associate nudity with self confidence, free will and progressive approach ,we must attempt to ask why is it so gendered?

why women are considered as most appropriate subject to objectify nudity?

In a capitalist world where social relations are established on exploitation of one man by another, nudity of women is nothing more
than a tactic to smoothen the buying and selling of products .

It is one aspect of an approach that views women as pleasure tools .

I have observed that the curver of a womens body advertised and talked about than endeavours are made to refine her thought processes.

Exposing of women as I view it, is nothing but an illfated approach constructed by the capitalist world to facilitate and protect its interests directly associated with the proliferation of fashion and glamour industry, gender bias, and sex crime.

How to Survive A Heart Attack

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN YOU ARE ALONE??

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.
A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!
A cardiologist says If everyone who sees this post shares it to 10 people, you can bet that we'll save at least one life..
Rather than sharing jokes only please contribute by forwarding this info which can save a person's life.

Richat Structure (Eye of the Sahara) – Mauritania

An amazing natural formation in the western Sahara Desert. Spotted by astronauts on early space missions, the formation has a diameter of about 48km. Scientists initially thought it was the result of a meteorite impact, but it’s now believed to be a deeply eroded geologic dome.. We’re yet to discover why it’s circular in shape though.

Interesting Facts about Dreams

Dreaming is one of the most mysterious and interesting experiences in our lives.

During the Roman Era some dreams were even submitted to the Roman Senate for analysis and dream interpretation. They were thought to be messages from the gods. Dream interpreters even accompanied military leaders into battles and campaigns!

In addition to this, it is also known that many artists have received their creative ideas from their dreams.

But what do we actually know about dreams?

1. You Forget 90% of Your Dreams

Within 5 minutes of waking half of your dream is forgotten. Within 10, 90% is gone.

2. Blind People also Dream

People who became blind after birth can see images in their dreams. People who are born blind do not see any images, but have dreams equally vivid involving their other senses of sound, smell, touch and emotion.

3. Everybody Dreams

Every human being dreams (except in cases of extreme psychological disorder). If you think you are not dreaming – you just forget your dreams.

4. In Our Dreams We Only See Faces That We already Know

Our mind is not inventing faces – in our dreams we see real faces of real people that we have seen during our life but may not know or remember. We have all seen hundreds of thousands of faces throughout our lives, so we have an endless supply of characters for our brain to utilize during our dreams.

5. Not Everybody Dreams in Color

A full 12% of sighted people dream exclusively in black and white. The remaining number dream in full color. Studies from 1915 through to the 1950s maintained that the majority of dreams were in black and white, but these results began to change in the 1960s. Today only 4.4% of the dreams of under-25 year-olds are in black and white. Recent research has suggested that those changing results may be linked to the switch from black-and-white film and TV to color media.

6. Dreams are Symbolic

If you dream about some particular subject it is not often that the dream is about that. Dreams speak in a deeply symbolic language. Whatever symbol your dream picks on it is most unlikely to be a symbol for itself.

7. Emotions

The most common emotion experienced in dreams is anxiety. Negative emotions are more common than positive ones.

8. You can have four to seven dreams in one night.

On average you can dream anywhere from one or two hours every night.

9. Animals Dream Too

Studies have been done on many different animals, and they all show the same brain waves during dreaming sleep as humans. Watch a dog sleeping sometime. The paws move like they are running and they make yipping sounds as if they are chasing something in a dream.

10. Body Paralysis

Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep is a normal stage of sleep characterized by rapid movements of the eyes. REM sleep in adult humans typically occupies 20-25% of total sleep, about 90-120 minutes of a night’s sleep.

During REM sleep the body is paralyzed by a mechanism in the brain in order to prevent the movements which occur in the dream from causing the physical body to move. However, it is possible for this mechanism to be triggered before, during, or after normal sleep while the brain awakens.

11. Dream Incorporation

Our mind interprets the external stimuli that our senses are bombarded with when we are asleep and make them a part of ourdreams. This means that sometimes in our dreams we hear a sound from reality and incorporate it in a way. For example you may be dreaming that you are in a concert while your brother is playing a guitar during your sleep.

12. Men and Women Dream Differently

Men tend to dream more about other men. Around 70% of the characters in a man’s dream are other men. On the other hand, a woman’s dream contains almost an equal number of men and women. Aside from that, men generally have more aggressive emotions in their dreams than the female lot.

13. Precognitive Dreams

Results of several surveys across large population sets indicate that between 18% and 38% of people have experienced at least one precognitive dream and 70% have experienced déjà  vu. The percentage of persons that believe precognitive dreaming is possible is even higher – ranging from 63% to 98%.

14. If you are snoring, then you cannot be dreaming.

This fact is repeated all over the Internet, but I’m a bit suspicious whether it’s really true as I haven’t found any scientific evidence to support it.

Well, I hope you had a great time reading these strange facts about our dreams.

Behold Google Street View's Taj Mahal imagery

In its quest to document all corners of the Earth, the mapping giant explores 30 of India's national treasures.

It's said that roughly 3 million people visit the Taj Mahal in India every year. Now, tourists don't need to get a plane ticket to witness the wonders of the ancient white marbled mausoleum.

Google Street View just unleashed its latest mapping project, which covers not only the Taj Mahal but also 29 other Indian landmarks. Armchair explorers can wander the grounds ofHumayun's Tomb, gaze at the intricate details of Red Fort's sandstone walls, or trek around the ancient temples at Muvar Koil.
"These Indian heritage sites have historically been admired by those lucky enough to journey to and across India," Google Street View program manager Gautam Gandhi. "With the new panoramic imagery live on Street View, people around the world can now visit these iconic monuments online."
People can explore these sites in Google Maps or through a historical interactivecreated by the Google Cultural Institute with the Archaeological Survey of India. Additionally, the Web giant has made abehind-the-scenes interactive specifically for Taj Mahal, which discusses the building's history, shows its architecture, and lets users explore the ins and outs of the famous structure.

"In a country as rich with heritage as India, technology can change the way we learn about and understand the past," Gandhi wrote. "We hope the Street View imagery of these 30 iconic Indian monuments will help share and preserve these sites, their stories and more of India's diverse heritage for generations to come."
Google Maps has increasingly brought digital travelers to some of the most difficult places to reach on Earth.

In 2012, the Web giant created a way for people to visit the North and SouthPoles. And, over the past year, it has brought Internet users to remote beaches in Hawaii, Virginia's Arlington National Cemetery, and Japan's Fukushima nuclear no-go zone.

Basant Day

Basant is celebrated on February 24 by flying colorful kites in the air, from rooftops, from fields, and from any open place they can get to. It is celebrated to ring in the warmer spring weather, and say farewell to the winter. During the past ten years, some aristocrats of Lahore have introduced basant as a local popular festival.

Although Basant is a fun time for the most part, kite flying on the festival of Basant has had it's share of protests and conflicts in the past, due to the rise of accidental deaths that occur on this day from kite flyers falling off roofs, or bicyclists being cut from unseen string as they pass by someone flying a kite.

Some people even have gone as far as to tie glass and metal to their strings as they participate in "kite fights" which ultimately ruined some Basant holidays.
Pakistani government banned kite flying in 2005, and kite flying is prohibited on all other days except on the Basant festival days due to the dangers kite flying normally has in such a congested city of millions like Lahore.

The main truth is that for the majority of law abiding Pakistanis, this is a time for celebration, family, and using strong caution. Most Pakistanis do adhere to safety rules established by the Pakistani police and stay safe during what is supposed to be the most colorful festivals of the year.

WELLDONE PAK ARMY

They are talking about ISLAM and say that we want to place our Shariyat. After that they slaughter 23 FC soldiers who were kidnapped in 2010 from Shongari check post in Mohamand Agency. So, is this ISLAM? History is evidence that our HOLY PROPHET (P.B.U.H) never said to slaughter any innocent Muslim or even non Muslim. Islam is the religion of peace but these human nature people are screening that Islam is the religion of terrorist it has been nine years since they killed more then 70 thousand Pakistani and still they are bomb blasting in different cities of Pakistan. The main dilemma is that our politicians hunted to save their government because in Islamic term those people who are against the State or laws they called ‘Kharjies’ & Islam give the permission to fight with them who dispute the rules of Islamic state. If these rules and our constitution of 1973 was against the Islamic law so there are lot of people from different sects living here in Pakistan  it would be opposed by the them but nobody have any problem with this law only these people are not agree because they are not Muslim they are animals.
We salute our Pakistani Army which is the best Army of the world who bombed hideouts of suspected militants in North Waziristan, on Thursday killing 20 terrorist including foreign nationals. We appeal to our Army chief Major General Raheel Sharif to take more serious action against these terrorist groups who are against the perching of Islam. This is only a solution otherwise the option of negotiation is for those who are human being not for animals.

Fingerprints

Fingerprints In the minds of many people, fingerprints are significant only for the identification of criminals . But the skin corrugations that produce fingerprints are a functionally important part of the structure of the finger pads, not only in human beings, but also in a number of other mammals, especially primates, whichuse prehensile hands (and feet ) foractive exploration of surfaces and for the fine manipulation of objects.

Fingerprints form naturally during the development of the human fetus, starting about 13 weeks after conception. The inner surfaces of the fingers and the palms of the hands, which are covered with hairless (glabrous ) skin develop tiny ‘pods’, which are the precursors of the pores of sweat glands. These pods, or ridge units, expand and coalesce with neighbouring pods, producing roughly linear ridges, with the sweat pores distributed along their crests, raised above the surface of the surrounding skin.

These form the familiar parallel and swirling ridges and intervening furrows, the exact pattern of which is determined by complex, irregular stresses in the skin. They can be seen not only on the pads of the fingers and thumb, but over much of the glabrous skin on the undersurface of fingers and toes, and on the palms and soles of the hands and feet. (A little talcum powder dusted over the surface of the skin makes the pattern more easily visible.)

Cellphone Signals

IT is common these days to find either no or seriously weak cellphone signals in various parts of Karachi. One can understand the anxiety on the part of relevant authorities to pre-empt any eventuality close to police stations and such other government offices, but issues arising out of this step also deserve to be paid due attention to. Apart from general inconvenience to the public, doctors, paramedical staff and other workers of emergency or essential services cannot be reached if they happen to be living in the vicinity of the offices of law-enforcement agencies.

The authorities need to come up with some alternative way of ensuring the safety of one and all without compromising the everyday reality on such a sustained basis.

Seven Top Investment Ideas for 2014

As the global economy continues its recovery, Credit Suisse’s top investment ideas focus on carefully selected themes which aim to help you generate more bang for your buck in 2014. In this video, Giles Keating, Head of Private Banking Research, explains the rationale behind the ideas and their investment implications.

Idea 1: Europe’s Recovery

Rationale: Europe’s recovery is slowly gathering pace and Credit Suisse anticipates an acceleration in earnings growth in 2014. Valuations are more attractive than in the US.

Investment implications: Buy (or overweight) European stocks. Among countries, Credit Suisse currently favors Germany given its operating leverage towards a recovery. For higher-risk investors: Europe-wide small and mid-cap stocks, cyclicals and selected banks on low valuations. For lower-risk investors: Dividend-yielding stocks offer potentially lower risk with higher yields than fixed income markets.

Idea 2: Seeking Equity Alpha

Rationale: Equities are the preferred asset class for 2014. After a good performance in 2013, the market recovery is set for a new phase in which active style, sector, country and stock selection can generate superior returns, noting that within both US and European stock markets, correlations among equities have fallen markedly.

Investment implications: Choose sectors, styles, countries and individual stocks based on prevailing market dynamics; cyclicals and momentum stocks from the IT and capital goods sectors are recommended.

Idea 3: Emerging Markets Reloaded

Rationale: During 2014 Credit Suisse expects that most emerging markets will benefit from a cyclical upswing supported by export opportunities to the developed markets. Emerging market trend growth rates remain above those of developed markets (albeit lower than before) and could further re-accelerate with structural reforms. Deficits still a source of volatility.

Investment implications: Gain exposure to export-led, growth-sensitive countries, such as Taiwan, and also look for those where the potential for successful structural reforms is not yet fully discounted. Compelling valuations can still be found (for example, China) where long term fundamentals – like consumption, urbanization, export potential – remain key investment drivers. Take a position in companies that benefit from emerging market cyclical recovery.

Idea 4: Fixed Income in a World of Rising Yields

Rationale: The need to obtain reasonable fixed income returns at a time when duration is unattractive since yields may rise on an economic recovery and tapering, and credit spreads are low.

Investment implications: Focus on short-duration assets in areas where value still exists, like corporate senior loans (usually held via a fund), bank subordinated debt, bank CoCos, corporate hybrids and distressed debt. Credit spreads on high yield and floating rate debt are near historic lows but limited amounts of such debt from strong issuers can be included in an overall portfolio. Avoid overvalued assets such as bank senior debt.

Idea 5: Forex as the Fed Tapers

Rationale: With tapering, the USD is set to strengthen against some currencies, like the JPY, and trade at the stronger end of the range against others, for example the EUR. In portfolios, a USD long position offers diversification in times of stress.

Investment implications: Buy USD/JPY, spot or forward. Opportunistically sell EUR/USD near the top of the range. Within emerging markets, sell currencies of deficit countries against those of surplus countries and of reformers.

Idea 6: Cash-Rich Companies

Rationale: Corporate cash piles remain near multi-year highs. Rising CEO confidence levels and pressure from shareholders to invest in growth or return cash bodes well for M&A activity.

Investment implications: Moderate risk-appetite investors should favor companies with a strong free cash flow and the ability to buy back shares. Investors with higher risk-appetite should prefer companies that are the potential targets of industry consolidation or which will benefit from asset disposals through restructurings.

Idea 7: China Reform Reaccelerates

Rationale: The Third Plenary Session of China’s Central Committee announced a clear direction for structural reforms, with accelerated product and financial market liberalization which should accelerate economic rebalancing, from exports and investment towards consumption. Concrete measures are expected in the coming months.

Investment implications: Stock selection is key. Gain exposure to global, regional and domestic firms that can benefit from China’s structural reforms with a focus on the private companies, services sectors and winners from economic rebalancing towards consumption. CNY and CNH (Chinese Offshore Yuan) remain our top emerging market currency ideas and are expected to sustain gradual appreciation in the course of exchange-rate reform.

BLOG Today

As the Internet has become more social, blogs have gained in popularity. Today, there are over 100 million blogs with more entering the blogosphere everyday. Blogs have become more than online diaries. In fact, blogging has become an important part of the online and offline worlds with popular bloggers impacting the worlds of politics, business and society with their words.

It seems inevitable that blogging will become even more powerful in the future with more people and businesses recognizing the power of bloggers as online influencers. Anyone can start a blog thanks to the simple (and often free) tools readily available online. The question will likely become not, "Why should I start a blog?" but rather, "Why shouldn't I start a blog?"

IBM Achieves New Speed Record for Big Data

Researchers at IBM Labs have achieved a new technological breakthrough enabling data transfer rates of up to 400 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) at extremely low power.

The device pictured above is a new, ultra-fast, energy efficient analog-to-digital converter (ADC) presented this week at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) in San Francisco. It can transfer Big Data between clouds and data centres four times faster than current technology. At this speed, 160 Gigabytes – or the equivalent of a two-hour, 4K ultra-high definition movie – could be downloaded in only a few seconds.

While only a lab prototype, a previous version of the design has been licensed to Semtech Corp, a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors. The company is using this technology to develop advanced communications platforms expected to be announced later this year.

As Big Data and Internet traffic continue to grow exponentially, future networking standards will have to support higher data rates. In 1992, for example, 100 gigabytes of data was transferred per day, whereas today, that figure has grown to over two exabytes daily, a 20 million-fold increase.

To support the increase in traffic, scientists at IBM Research and Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) have been developing ADC technology to enable complex digital equalization across long-distance fiber channels. An ADC converts analog signals to digital, approximating the right combination of zeros and ones to digitally represent data so it can be stored on computers and analysed for patterns.

For example, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), an international project to build the world’s largest and most sensitive radio telescope, will use hundreds of thousands of ADCs to convert the analog radio signals originating from the Big Bang. The radio data that the SKA collects from deep space is expected to produce 10 times the global internet traffic and the prototype ADC would be an ideal candidate to transport its signals fast and at very low power – a critical requirement, considering the thousands of antennas that will be spread over 3,000 kilometres (1,900 miles).

Dr. Martin Schmatz, IBM Research: “Our ADC supports IEEE standards for data communication and brings together speed and energy efficiency at 32 nanometres, enabling us to start tackling the largest Big Data applications. With Semtech as our partner, we are bringing our previous generation of the ADC to market less than 12 months since it was first developed and tested.”

Semtech signed a non-exclusive technology licensing agreement, including access to patented designs and technological know-how, with IBM to develop the technology for its own family of products, ranging from optical communications to advanced radar systems.

Craig Hornbuckle, from Semtech: “Through leveraging the IBM 32nm SOI process with its unique feature set, we are developing products that are well-suited for meeting the challenge presented by the next step in high performance communications systems, such as 400 Gb/s Optical systems and Advanced Radar systems. We are also seeing an expanding range of applications in the existing radio frequency communications marketplace where high-speed digital logic is replacing functions that have been traditionally performed by less flexible analog circuitry.”

Headphones Side Effects

Hearing Loss:- One of the main side effects of listening to loud music is hearing loss. According to Dr. Brian Fligor, the director of Diagnostic Audiology at Boston Children's Hospital, people who listen to music at volumes exceeding 90 decibels, can suffer temporary loss of hearing. Sounds in this range can eventually cause permanent hearing loss, especially to teenagers who wear their earphones for long periods of time.

Ear Infections:- Since earphones are made for two ears, it is quite inevitable that people share them. According to the Manchester Evening News, regular use of earphones can enhance the growth of harmful bacteria, and sharing or borrowing earphones may just cause the transfer someone else's bacteria to your ears. Research leader, Dr. Chiranjay Mukhopadhyay, advises everyone to avoid sharing earphones. If it cannot be helped, sanitize them before using.

Tips and Warnings:- Do not use earphones that are inserted directly into your ear canals because, even though they can make the music sound better, they enhance the chances of hearing loss will also increase. You should also try taking 5-minute breaks every hour. This will help your ears recover from being bombarded by concentrated sound waves. Last but not least, if you can use speakers at a moderate level instead, then do so because they will disperse the sound waves and not cause as much direct damage to your ear drums.
